Bombardier Learjet has announced an intent to cut 1,800 jobs in a restructuring during the second half of the year.   It's not known if any of the jobs affected will be in Wichita.

The company says it's working on a new organizational structure that is designed to cut costs, and there will be job reductions company wide.

A company spokesperson says production-related jobs will not be affected.   There will be a 15 percent reduction in what the company calls ``indirect functions'' that such as human resources, finance and communications.

The new organizational structure will divide the company into four segments:  transportation, business aircraft, commercial aircraft and aerostructure and engineering services.  The new structure should be in place by the end of the year.

Bombardier employs around 76,000 workers in the U.S. and Canada.

In January, Bombardier announced a workforce reduction of about 1,700 employees and contractors at its facilities in the United States and Canada. That number included 550 people in Wichita.
