Agency warns of future Wichita water supply contamination
Wichita's water supply is in danger of contamination.
That word is coming from the U.S. Geological Survey. I a recent report shows that chloride contamination in groundwater is moving towards Wichita's water supply wells northwest of the city.
The contamination is chloride, which is left over from past oil and gas activities near Burrton. Though chloride is common in water supplies, the levels being seen are enough to endanger water supplies.
The U.S.G.S. is working with the city to address the issue. For more information click here.
