Okfuskee County deputy dies in wreck
OKEMAH, Okla. (AP) - An Okfuskee County sheriff's deputy has been killed in an auto accident on Interstate 40 near Okemah while he was responding to a call for assistance from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
OHP Capt. George Brown says the deputy was responding to a call for assistance from a trooper who was trying to arrest a suspected drunken driver when the deputy went off the interstate and struck a cable barrier and his patrol car overturned. Brown says the deputy was thrown from his car and was dead at the scene.
The deputy's name and other information were not immediately released.
