OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Gov. Mary Fallin has named Oklahoma Secretary of State Larry Parman as director of the state Department of Commerce.
Fallin said Thursday that Parman will also be her secretary of commerce. Both appointments are effective Nov. 1 and require Senate confirmation.
Parman succeeds former Commerce Secretary Dave Lopez, who stepped down in August to become interim superintendent of the Oklahoma City Public Schools.
Parman replaces Vaughn Clark who has been acting director at the Commerce Department since last month.
Parman will oversee the agency's day-to-day operations and will act as a liaison to the governor. He will also continue to be a senior policy adviser to the governor.
Parman is the former CEO of an Oklahoma City elder law and estate and business planning firm.
