Earthquake reported near Wetumka
WETUMKA, Okla. (AP) The U.S. Geological Survey says a 3.2-magnitude earthquake has rattled a portion of eastern Oklahoma.
The earthquake struck shortly after midnight Sunday and was centered about eight miles south-southeast of Wetumka in Hughes County.
The survey says the earthquake occurred about three or four miles below the surface. There were no immediate reports of damage.
Geologists say earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 to 3.0 are the smallest that are felt by humans. Earthquakes below magnitude 4.0 generally do not cause damage.
