Arraignment set in Tulsa festival shootings case
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Two men charged in the shootings of five people at a Hmong New Year's festival in Tulsa are due in court for arraignment.
Court records say Boonmlee Lee and Meng Lee are due in Tulsa County District Court Monday. Defense attorneys say Boonmlee Lee is Meng Lee's uncle.
Boonmlee Lee faces one count of shooting with intent to kill, four counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon. Meng Lee is charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Both have pleaded not guilty.
The Lees and the five injured are ethnic Hmong, who hail from Asian countries.
Prosecutors think one victim was targeted because he mediated a dispute involving the Lees' family that wasn't resolved in the Lees' favor.
