Selena Gomez, 21, rocked headlines last week when she canceled her international "Stars Dance" tour throughout Asia and Australia for a bizarre request of more "me" time. However, rumors are swirling around now that it's due to her secretly suffering from Lupus.
"Selena has been going full throttle the past few years and her Lupus is really catching up with her right now," a source exclusively shared with Popdust. "She knows that she needs to take some time to address the disease and look after herself better, if she wants to live a full and healthy life."
The source supposedly close to Gomez also explained that "Selena was diagnosed with Lupus a couple of years ago and that that she has suffered multiple 'flares' recently, causing facial swelling, extreme fatigue, headaches, and joint pain."
Gomez released a statement via tour promoter Live Nation saying, "My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them. But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me."
At this time Gomez's rep has denied rehab and breakdown rumors, but has not commented on her alleged Lupus disease.
