Mother asks Internet to mail surprise birthday cards to son

Mother asks Internet to mail surprise birthday cards to son

By Julianne Cassidy. CREATED Feb 13, 2014

A mother named Jennifer was attempting to plan an 11th birthday party for her son, Colin, until he told her not to. It wasn't that he didn't want to celebrate his birthday, but rather that he didn't have any friends to celebrate with.

People reports that, "Colin has a sensory processing disorder similar to Asperger's syndrome and eats lunch in the [school] office every day because no one will let him sit with them."

On Feb. 2 Jennifer set up a Facebook page (without Colin knowing) asking the Internet to surprise Colin on his birthday with cards. "Colin is eleven" now has 1.7 million "likes," an the Harlem Globetrotters have invited the boy to a "belated birthday party" on their behalf when they visit his city of Michigan in April.

If you want to mail Colin a card, there's still time! But remember, "please be careful if you know him in real life," says Jennifer on the Facebook account. This is still a surprise.
