Remember that cat who made headlines earlier this week when a video of her saving a 4-year-old boy from a dog attack went viral? Tara the cat, who has since been hailed as a hero, will now have the honor of “throwing” out the first pitch at a local minor league baseball game in her hometown of Bakersfield, Calif.

How does a cat throw a baseball? That remains to be seen, but we do know she'll have an assist from her owners, the Triantafilo family. It'll happen May 20 at a Bakersfield Blaze game.
If you haven't yet seen Tara in action, or just want to catch her brave act again, watch the video in the media player above.
Video of the incident has gotten millions of views on YouTube in the last few days. It shows a neighbor dog in an unprovoked attack on a small boy playing in his driveway, and the boy's cat flying over to ram the dog then chase him off before returning to the boy.
The child required stitches for a deep bite wound in his leg, according to The Los Angeles Times.
The paper also reports the “the owner of the 8-month-old male Labrador-Chow mix voluntarily surrendered it to the Bakersfield Animal Care Center” where it is being quarantined for 10 days before it is put down.
