What is probably the one thing you should not leave behind at a crime scene? A cellphone containing a selfie.

Adam Howe, 26, is probably kicking himself good after a selfie led to his quick arrest.

Police say Howe broke into the Hilltop Tabernacle Church in California on Monday and stole about $10,000 in cash, some purses and a laptop computer from the church and an RV that was parked on the property.

Although he made a clean getaway, he left behind his cellphone.

A police detective was able to access the photos on the phone and recognized the background in one of the photos.

According to NBC San Diego, the detective then went to the area and spoke to some people who recognized the man in the selfie. On Tuesday, the detective finally found Howe while checking nearby areas.

A search of his belongings turned up some of the stolen items but not all. Howe finally admitted the burglary and was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail.

Two other people were also arrested in connection with the crime after stolen property was found in a nearby tent.
