CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Two areas of low pressure continue to move westerly at 10-15 mph across the tropical Atlantic today. The first is located about 1000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and still has a very low chance (20%) of becoming a tropical cyclone over the next five days.

The second low pressure system is about 500 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and has a higher probability (50%) of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next five days.

It is forecast to continue to the west entering the Caribbean on Friday or Saturday where it is expected to strengthen to a tropical storm.

The strengthening of this storm is currently being limited by the presence of dry, dusty air from the west coast of Africa and wind shear overhead, but the atmosphere is expected to become moister over the Caribbean waters which will aid in the development of this system.
