Tropics remain quiet, but for how long?

Tropics remain quiet, but for how long?

CASPE CORAL, Fla - Things have been somewhat quiet tropically for the past few weeks, and if this continues, we may be breaking some records.

The 2013 season has a chance at producing no hurricanes through the middle of September, which would rival the records.

However, there are some players on the field that could defend that record.

While the 2013 season thus far has delivered six tropical storms, it has not delivered any hurricanes.

In 1941, our first recorded Hurricane was on September 16th, so if we make it another two weeks, we will break the record.

On the tropical weather maps, there are three areas of disturbed weather that could become organized tropical systems now through early next week, but it appears the best chance of a hurricane would not come until the middle of the month.
