Red's Seafood holds job fair for second restaurant

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Red's Seafood is opening a second restaurant just south of Cape Coral Parkway. It's going to be bigger than the first restaurant on Pine Island, but the best part? It's starting from scratch when it comes to hiring.
"We need front of the house, back of the house, that includes hostesses, bus boys, servers, expo, food prep, dish washers, cooks, bartenders," Red's General Manager Craig Lewis, said.
Just an hour into Saturday's job fair, more than 100 came out to the restaurant's new location to fill out applications for the almost 80 available jobs.
"Red's has a great reputation," applicant Sherry Herman said.

Herman moved to Cape Coral from Vero Beach. With more than 20 years of restaurant experience, she thinks she is a perfect fit for Red's.
"Rumor spreads quickly through small towns, knew it was moving over here and waited for the opportunity to come and so here I am today," Herman said.
For applicant Scott Nelson, Red's is the perfect place he can find seasonal, and hopefully permanent, work.
"Fort Myers is kind of tricky in this business because you know how the summer is, there are no jobs and I am ready to start working," Nelson said.
Nelson said it's been a while since one place has had so many job openings.
"About the last five years this has been real rare, we all know that, but now things are picking up and it's back to what it was like 6,7,8,9,10 years ago," Nelson said.
