NAPLES, Fla. - A Naples doctor is facing charges for reportedly stealing a painting from the Naples Community Hospital.
The Naples Police Department was contacted by the hospital's director of security last week, saying that Dr. Douglas Paone stole a painting worth $750.
A police report says Paone entered the Telford Building second floor and swiped the painting, hiding it under his white lab coat. While he isn't an employee of the hospital, Paone does have admitting privileges.
A card printer readout shows that Paone entered and left the hospital building during the time of the theft. Acting on sufficient evidence, Naples Police arrested Paone.
At the police station, detectives say Paone told them he did not steal the picture and that he was only borrowing it. He then stated that he wanted to talk to his lawyer. He is charged with grand theft and has bonded out.
Paone has a court date set for December 2nd.
