Fort Myers man arrested for video voyuerism
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - A Fort Myers man is being held in connection with a massive case of video voyeurism that occurred at a Fort Myers Beach rental property.
Investigators were initially tipped off to a problem at a property in the 1900 block of Bayview Drive on Tuesday March 25. A renter of the vacation house told deputies an alarm clock-radio was discovered with a pin-hole camera.
An SD card was also found inside the altered clock-radio. The renters told investigators that 53-year-old Robert McDuffie Moore of Fort Myers was the caretaker for the residence and they found it suspicious he would show up daily, often unannounced and while they were not present.
The renters say Moore asked where each occupant slept; locked himself in an upstairs bedroom at one point; and, been seen moving the alarm clock-radio in question.
With suspicions of possible illegal activity, a search warrant was obtained and several similar video recording devices found in the rental residence. Additionally, a delivery came to the rental address in Moore's name which contained new recording devices.
As detectives investigated they found numerous SD cards in Moore's vehicle and his home in the 5800 block of Riverside Lane. More than 4,000 video clips were recovered from the cards with recordings of juveniles and adults. The content of the videos included the victims changing clothes, having sexual relations, showering, sleeping and more.
The video evidence recovered spanned slightly over a month, February 22nd to the date of the discovery on March 25th. A total of 38 potential victims have been identified and contacted. All victims reside out-of-state.
Moore was taken into custody on Friday May 2 in Orange County, Florida. He will be brought back to Lee County to 9 felony counts: 7 counts 2nd degree felony video voyeurism (juvenile victims); 1 count of 3rd degree felony video voyeurism (adult victim); and, 1 count of 3rd degree felony child pornography. The State Attorney's Office will review the entire case to determine if additional charges will be filed.
