CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Remember those lights in the sky last weekend noticed by many at Cape Coral's Coconut Festival? Well Florida residents weren't alone in noticing strange lights many are saying could be UFO's.
Another Cape Coral family shows us cell phone video from that now famous Saturday night in the skies over Southwest Florida.
"It was bright red and we saw about 15 of them going straight through the sky, I don't know what it was," said Jeremy Rebstock.
The Director of the National UFO Reporting Center in Washington state tells FOX 4 by Skype, Cape Coral is not alone.
"The reports that came to the National UFO Reporting Center on Saturday night the 10th of November, they were remarkable. They were stunning to me," Peter Davenport said. "I don't think I fully understand the phenomenon that I am dealing with."
He's compiled reports from across the United States all from that same night.
"Clusters of red, orange, or yellow or amber fireballs," said Davenport.
"Where do you think the fireball came from?" asked reporter Kelli Stegeman. 4-year-old Ethan Rebstock replied as only a 4-year-old would. "I don't know, maybe from someone that was trying to kill a bad guy."
I shared the UFO Center's reports with the Rebstocks. They say those descriptions in other places matched exactly what they saw.
"Are you now believers?" Stegeman asked.
"It's going to have to get a little more solid than that for me to believe," said Brittany Rebstock.
Jeremy feels a little different. "I think that its a possiblity," he said. "I can't rule it out 100% especially after the information that's been presented to me, it kind of seem like that's probably what it is."
"If it is real," adds Peter Davenport. "It is in my opinion probably the scientific question of greatest importance before the American people. Namely, are we alone, or are we not?"
The UFO Center has a hotline you can call if you see something strange in the sky.
Davenport says the best thing you can do if you see something suspicious is to immediately sit down and record everything you saw on paper. Then, give a group like his a call to report what you see.
