MARCO ISLAND, Fla. - Marco Island police are investigating an early morning crash involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee that killed a man.
A caller alerted police that an individual was spotted walking away from the scene of the accident in the 1400 block of Jamaica Road.
Police arrived shortly after the initial call along with Marco Island Fire Rescue and found the victim lying in a swale.
Investigators believe the Jeep was travelling south on Jamaica Road when it entered a curve and drove off the roadway at Trinidad rolling over at least once.
Police determined the driver had fled the scene and a Collier County K-9 unit helped search the area for the driver.
Police located 22-year-old Andrew Roubicek exiting a home in the area and he confessed to driving the vehicle involved in the crash.
Roubiecek was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
The passenger was identified as 20-year-old Shayne William Murray of Marco Island.
