PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A wild scene unfolded Thursday evening in Port Charlotte where deputies say a 37-year-old woman tried to run down her boyfriend in her Ford Excursion SUV.  Deputies arrested Nellie Angelica Roman charging her with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Deputies received a call in the18400 block of Timothy Avenue in reference to a man being chased by a SUV.  Deputies found the Excursion in the back yard of a home sitting atop a smashed fence.  They saw tire marks from the vehicle running through the front yard, through one fence and then through a back yard where it crashed into a second fence.

Deputies found Roman sitting in the driver's seat with the engine still running.

Roman told deputies she returned from an area bar and she and her boyfriend got into an argument. She said she ran to her vehicle to get away, lost control and crashed into the fence. She said she hit her chest on the steering wheel and EMS transported her to Fawcett Memorial Hospital.

The boyfriend told deputies Roman came home and was upset with him that he was on the phone with another girl. He said he left her residence and went for a walk. He said Roman got into her truck and started following him so he cut through yards to avoid her.

He stated Roman backed over a mailbox on Timothy Avenue, made a U-turn, and continued pursuing him. The boyfriend said Roman continued driving toward him and drove through the yard at a high rate of speed. She ran over one fence, and he jumped over another fence but she tried to drive through it.

Deputies arrested Roman after she was treated and released from the hospital. She remains in the Charlotte County Jail on no bond.
