First day of early voting in Lee County draws a crowd

CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Saturday is the first day of early voting in Lee County and many are taking advantage.

Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan is talking to early voters who are flocking to the polls and avoiding the lines on August 14.
It's pretty hard to miss the Lee County Elections Office in Cape Coral. There are dozens of campaign signs staked into the ground, and one letting voters know, they can come in and get it done, early.
"I love early voting," Cape Coral resident Dave Stokes said. "Skip the lines."
"We're running some errands and we thought we'd take advantage of the early voting," Cape Coral resident Rodger Bourne said.
"It was very, very quick," Cape Coral resident Ralph Hohman said.
Voters seem to have similar things on their minds as they head to the polls.
"Jobs, economy, the national security, the national debt," Stokes said.
An elections official said they've had nearly 300 early voters by 4:00 p.m. Saturday, with more driving in before the office closed at 5:00 p.m.
"We're quite happy with what we've just accomplished," Bourne said. "We're all done and now we can go off and finish the rest of our chores."
If you want to vote early in Lee County, you can vote from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays.
Locations include the main elections office at Fowler Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Fort Myers; Coconut Commerce Center, 24951 Old U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs; the Cape Coral branch office, 1031 SE 9th Place; the south branch, 13180 S. Cleveland Ave.; East Lee County Regional Library in Lehigh Acres.
