TSA's top supervisors face termination
LEE COUNTY, Fla. - New information tonight on that security breach at RSW airport that led to 42 TSA workers facing suspension and termination. Four in your Corner's Mike Mason is live with the latest.
It's one of the largest security breaches in TSA's history. 38 workers at RSW facing suspension and tonight we're learning 5 top supervisors are being fired. This after failing to conduct random screenings at security checkpoints.
The man in charge at TSA, Federal Security Director Robert Cohen, is one of the 38 being suspended for two weeks. Fox-4 tried speaking with TSA officials at RSW but they're remaining tight-lipped.
Supervisors telling us they're not allowed to comment. Instead, directing us to speak with TSA officials in Washington.
We are told many of the TSA workers are represented by a union and they plan to appeal their suspensions. TSA officials say the five supervisors are not protected by the union and are currently on administrative leave until their termination takes effect.
