NAPLES- An acupuncturist working in an office off of Airport Road in Naples is now facing charges of insurance fraud, grand theft and criminal use of personal identification

"Should clients of hers be concerned as far as personal information goes?"

"I'm not sure her clients should be concerned at this point. We don't have any information that would indicate that," said Detective Lee Quick with the Division of Insurance Fraud with the state of Florida.

Detectives say 30-year-old Dr. Sebiha Ozturk of Naples Acupuncture and Health Clinic allegedly billed insurance companies for medical treatments she never performed.

"We have to rely on referrals made by insurance companies who uncover these various inconsistencies when they process claims," said Detective Quick.

Investigators say Dr. Ozturk billed insurance companies for more than $20,000 dollars worth of fraudulent acupuncture treatment. Fox 4 stopped by the office on Tuesday, but was told no one inside wanted to comment. Detectives say patients aren't the only victims.

"It all directly affects every consumer in the state of Florida because we ultimately pay higher rates and higher premiums on every insurance product that we have because of these enablers is what we call them... these persons that enable this fraud to occur," said Detective Quick.

Dr. Ozturk was booked into the county jail, but released after posting a $6,500 bond. If convicted, she faces up to 7 years in prison.
