Peanut policy at Fort Myers Miracle games

FORT MYERS - Play ball!  But if you're a fan at the stadium allergic to peanuts steering clear of them might not be so easy. So, some stadiums are now putting in nut free zones.

Teams like the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees are putting in peanut free zones.  So, what do those at the Miracle game at Hammond stadium think of the idea?

Take me out to the ball game.  Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks.  Just hold the peanuts for 8 year old Brett Luna.

“We found out by accident one day he was breaking out we thought he had gotten into some bugs or something we looked for ants and took him to the doctors and found out he was allergic to peanuts.” Brett’s dad Joe Luna said.

Baseball teams like the New York Yankees and New York Mets have put in peanut free zones so fans with peanut allergies can enjoy the game without worry.  Brett doesn't get sick unless he eats peanuts, but his dad says if hammond stadium had a peanut free zone that's where they would sit.

“We haven't found out how bad it could be but we do carry an epi pen with us now.” Joe Luna said.

Hammond stadium tried a peanut free zone back in 2010, but it wasn't a home run.

Fans are willing to maybe try it out again for a day or two, but if any fans have a severe allergy to peanuts, let the stadium know they will put you in your own suite peanut-free.
