Free cruise offer too good to be true?

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Want to go on a free cruise?  That's the offer you might have discovered in your mailbox recently but is it too good to be true?

Four In Your Corner's Colleen Hogan is trying to get some answers.

The offer says you've been selected to receive an eight day, seven night cruise for two.

Carnival's logo is on the mailer offer as well. So is a bonus offer, two round-trip airfares.

But is it for real?

We called the eight-hundred number on the offer. A worker answered right away and wanted to know the promo code.

The worker confirmed the offers went out across Southwest Florida from Naples-based travel company MVC.

He said the trip was free but that they were looking for word of mouth advertising.

However, he said there are restrictions. The worker said the cruise offer is only for married couples or couples living together with the same address. You have to be in the target demographic to be eligible; between the ages of 30 and 70.

When we tried to dig a little deeper, but we couldn't find a direct website for the company. We finally found a place to email a comment, which we did, but we haven’t hear back.

We also reached out to Carnival cruise lines to see what they knew about the offer. Despite a email and a phone call, our request for comment was not returned.

Bottom line: be smart if you want to look into this offer or a similar offer that sounds too good to be true.

Never give out sensitive financial information.
