FORT MYERS BEACH - Some 10,000 people are expected down here at Fort Myers Beach Saturday night for a spectacular fireworks display.

They'll be going off right at the end of the Fort Myers Beach pier.  The fireworks made possible by donations from area businesses and residents.

All of the money raised privately each and every year.  At the stroke of midnight thousands of fireworks will be set off.  The display will last about eight minutes, followed by the grand finale.

Local company Semmer Electric takes care of the permits and organizing the fireworks display.  The Fort Myers Beach Fire Department and Lee County sheriff's deputies will be taking care of crowd control and safety.

"The concern is the general congestion of people and making sure there is a means for people to be safe and have access to emergency care if need be." Mike Becker, Fort Myers Beach Fire Chief said.

If you're headed down to the beach Saturday, leave early because there is only so much parking to go around.
