I'm not a native but after 17 years in southwest Florida I feel like I have an honory pass.
Whats not to love about being able to go and do yoga on the beach then paddle boarding with your friends in the Gulf. I'm a big fan of Florida's natural springs. I've stayed and camped near 10 different springs in Florida. The water sure can be cold but the sun always warms you up. One of my favorite places on earth is Ichneetucknee Springs. There, the kayaking is incredible.
As a reporter, I most enjoy covering political and environmental stories. I feel like they have the most impact on our daily lives. I graduated from Vanderbilt University in Communications. Afterwards, I lived in Japan after that working for a software company. I felt like that was a great experience but pursuing my dream of reporting soon took over and I went to work for ABC-TV in Hollywood. There I was a page for the Oscars. I had the opportunity to hold Whoopi Goldberg's golden statue, take Julia Roberts to make up and hang out with Kiefer Sutherland because he wanted someone to talk to while he got a drink backstage. Even in the moment, it was easy to be a fan.
I worked at a number of TV stations after Los Angeles from Great Falls Montana, Redding California to Fort Myers. I left TV for 12 years and joined Big Pharma as a sales representative. During that time I joined the Fort Myers City Council. Getting sworn in as an Officer of the United States Constitution was a defining moment in my life. It was an honor and responsibility that I still hold very dear to my heart. My experience on the counsel exposed me to all sorts of interesting and exciting people who want to make the world a better place. I feel so fortunate to live in this beautiful part of the world and to be back reporting.
