Hi there! Thanks for clicking to learn a little more about me.
I could not be more thrilled to be telling stories here in Southwest Florida. I was born and raised in Southern Illinois, but already feel right at home in the Sunshine State.
My passion for news started when I was just 5 years old, watching the ‘Today Show’ with my mom as we got ready every morning. Since then, I knew I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2010 with a B.A in Communication Studies concentrating in Broadcast News and Electronic Media Production. While at EIU, I had the pleasure of working for the EMMY award winning PBS, affiliate WEIU T.V. I also spent time interning at WICD-T.V in Champaign, IL.
After graduation, I quickly landed my first on-air local news gig as a reporter/anchor at WHBF T.V. in the Quad Cities, serving Northwestern Illinois/Eastern Iowa. There, I covered all aspects of news; from intense breaking situations, to investigating the closure of several Illinois state prisons, to sharing tears with Korean War Veterans in Washington D.C. on the Honor Flight.
But, I was ready to ditch the snow for sand which brought me here to FOX 4. If you have a problem you’d like me to look into or want to share a story, I’m always here to help! Send me an email at Kajones@fox4now.com
