An unidentified 38-year-old woman from Youngwood, Pa., was caught allegedly selling heroin from her bed in the Intensive Care Unit of Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. The patient is set to be charged on April 22.
“What the staff was noticing in our Intensive Care Unit, was that many visitors were coming and going, the foot traffic was extreme, but they weren’t staying. Instead of staying for 20 minutes, they were staying for two minutes,” Jennifer Miele, Excela’s Vice President of Marketing, tells CBS Pittsburgh.
Greensburg Police were able to set up surveillance and catch the dealer with a sting sale. "They allegedly confiscated more than 350 stamp bags of heroin from the woman’s room, with an estimated street value of about $3,800," reports CBS Pittsburgh.
Another $1,420 in cash was also reportedly seized from the ICU room, along with multiple cell phones.
