Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres wanted to take the "most retweeted selfie of all time" during the 86th annual Academy Awards, and she has officially succeeded. DeGeneres now holds the record for the most re-tweeted tweet, surpassing President Barack Obama, according to Twitter.
The envelope please….to @TheEllenShow - this is now the most re-tweeted Tweet with over 1 million RTs. Congrats!— Twitter (@twitter) March 3, 2014
With Jared Leto squeezed in with Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep peeking behind DeGeneres' shoulder, and Bradley Cooper front and center (and taking the photo), this is now not only the most re-tweeted selfie of all time, but has also been dubbed the "best selfie of all time." It includes a second tier of celebs: Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Lupita Nyong'o and photobomber Kevin Spacey, as well as Nyong'o's brother on the right.

Until now, President Obama's Nov. 6, 2012 tweet: "Four more years." including a photo of himself and wife Michele hugging, was the most re-tweeted tweet with 779,313 Retweets and 294,403 Favorites.
At the time of this publication, DeGeneres' Oscar selfie has only been live for 56 minutes and has generated 1,078,973 Retweets and 736,390 Favorites.
Once the photo was posted, DeGeneres' #OscarSelfie also temporarily "broke" Twitter as users received an error message when attempting to access their accounts and/or live-tweet during the 2014 awards show.
So, Ellen DeGeneres for President?
