Spartan Community Asked to Help Fill the Bus
It's time to fill the busses! Every notebook, backpack and other items given, helps to make the beginning of the school year brighter for local children and their families.
The annual MSU Fall Welcome Fill the Bus is an event that exemplifies what it means to be part of the Spartan family. From Sunday, Aug. 24, thru Friday, Aug. 29, donations of school supplies, health and hygiene items, non-perishable food and cash will be accepted for those in need throughout the greater Lansing area.
The Fill the Bus event has been helping local K-12 students since 2009. With school resuming in the coming weeks, donations of extra school supplies are especially needed, such as:
- Crayons, pens, pencils
- Dry-erase markers and erasers
- Notebooks and loose-leaf paper
- Pencil sharpeners
- Glue sticks
- Rulers, protractors, compasses
- Kleenex and hand sanitizer
- Colored construction paper
The College of Communication Arts and Sciences encourages all its students, faculty, staff and alumni to come together to do their part. The CA$ Money team will be collecting cash donations, school supplies and hygiene in marked lime green bins throughout the CAS Building from Aug. 25 to 28. Cash donations will be accepted in the CAS Undergraduate Student Affairs Office, Room 189, as well as at the following sites:
- ADV - CAS Room 309
- COM - CAS Room 473
- CSD - Oyer Room 109
- JRN - CAS Room 305
- Media and Information - CAS Room 409
- WKAR - CAS Room 212
- Dean's Office - CAS Room 287
Stratton Lee, CAS Undergraduate Adviser, is coordinating Fill the Bus for the college so if you have questions, please contact him. Volunteers also are needed to assist in sorting and distributing donations on Friday, Aug. 29. If you are interested in volunteering, register at Fill the Bus.
