The K-9 unit of Michigan State University is fairly new. It first began in 1984 when an officer and dog were sent to begin their training in Baltimore for nearly sixteen weeks.
Since 1984, the MSU K-9 unit has expanded its reach to train dogs for MSU and surrounding areas such as Lansing, Eaton, and Meridian Township.
Recently the MSU K-9 unit added a new officer and dog to the K-9 unit.
Upon completing their three months of training on July 24th, Officer Parviainen and her partner Bane were inducted into the K-9 unit.
