For first-time entrepreneurs, launching a business takes substantial research and planning before they start to see a profit.

The Greenlight Entrepreneurial Boot Camp, Aug. 18-22 at the MSU Innovation Center (325 E. Grand River), is tailored to help provide new leaders with startup resources in one location.

The boot camp, a partnership between Spartan Innovations, Lansing Economic Area Partnership and the MSU Innovation Center, is designed to take startups from drawing board to fruition.

“We’re working to spur entrepreneurship throughout the region, from helping MSU faculty members interested in learning more about turning their concepts into robust businesses, to assisting local startups that have a great idea and need help getting off the ground,” said Brian Abraham, executive director of Spartan Innovations. “This is the first paperless boot camp in the region that offers instruction, information and resources built on strong partnerships both inside and outside Michigan State University.”

The intensive, interactive course will cover financing, business and finance planning, market analysis, managing change and launch strategy.

“This program will help open more doors to entrepreneurial opportunity and small business ownership in the Greater Lansing region,” said Jeff Smith, director of LEAP’s new economy division.

“We’ve identified a real need for programs that help entrepreneurially minded people get the training and support they need to become Lansing’s next great innovators and job creators.”

The boot camp costs $500 and includes dinner each evening, parking, books, materials and instruction time. Candidates can sign up at
