Grand Ledge Baseball Team Heads to League World Series

Grand Ledge (Sundance) baseball team continued their winning streak by going undefeated in the Pony Zone tournament which began Wednesday, July 23 and concluded Saturday, July 26.

The team advances to the Colt World Series to be held August 1 – 6 in Lafayette, Indiana. Grand Ledge defeated the host team, Mid Michigan Trigger Time, 11 – 4 in the championship game. The tournament included teams from several mid-west states.

The team qualified for the Zone tournament by winning the State championship on July 19 in Garden City, MI. Grand Ledge was undefeated in the 3-day double elimination State tournament.

This Grand Ledge team was formed as a middle school team and has played as a cohesive unit each spring and summer over the past 5 years. While many of the tournament teams at the State and Zone level are comprised of All-Star players, Grand Ledge continues their winning streak by relying on the talent, hard-work, and determination of schoolmates and friends.

The team is coached by Paul Davison who has led the team since middle school along with assistant coach, Kent Baker The team has been successful in area league play and as a Michigan-based travel team.

This is the third time Coach Davison has been to the World Series, first as a player at age 16, and with each of his 2 sons at age16.

The team will hold a practice on Monday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Gorman Field (Grand Ledge High School). All are welcome to watch and congratulate this young team of champions!
