Poets May Find New 'Seat' in Old Town

Poets May Find New 'Seat' in Old Town

By Stephanie Miller. CREATED Aug 17, 2012

New benches that will be placed throughout Old Town Lansing will serve to be more than just a place to rest your feet and take in the sights and sounds of wonderful Old Town.  The OCTA has purchased six new benches and need your help putting the Old Town flair on them.

The Old Town Commercial Association is hosting a Poetry Bench Contest where they are inviting the public to submit poems for one of the six benches to be placed throughout Old Town. The poems must be 128 characters or less and up to 4 lines. The 5th line will feature the poet's name if desired.

The theme of the poetry should speak to the spirit of Old Town Lansing and its values such as: diversity, urban environment, creativity, music and the arts, but doesn't have to be specifically about Old Town.

Download the application below to see a map of where the benches will be placed and enter the competition, here.

Applications must be received by the OCTA by August 24 at 5pm.
