Ele's Race 5K Is Back
One of mid-Michigan’s most popular races, Ele’s Race, will be Sunday, July 22 at 9:00 a.m. held at
Jackson National Life Insurance Company in Okemos. This certified 5k event welcomes serious and casual runners, walkers, families and teams to support Ele’s Place, a healing center for grieving children.
Ele’s Race is presented by Jackson National Life Insurance Company.
Registration for individuals and teams is available on-line at www.elesplace.org. The last chance to register will be Saturday, July 21, 1:00 – 5:00 pm at Ele’s Place, 1145 West Oakland Avenue.
Registration fees are waived and prizes awarded for those who collect donations. Individual fee - $25, Family Fee - $60 (up to 5 immediate family members).
The event includes fun for the whole family with a Playmakers Kids Mile, 100 yard Kids Dash, face painting, entertainment, and prizes for the top five finishers in all divisions, plus prizes for top teams. In addition, a Memory Wall will be displayed at the race for participants to post names or photos of loved ones who have died.
Ele’s Race Honorary Chairperson, MSU Women’s Basketball Coach Suzy Merchant, said, “We are so lucky to have Ele’s Place here, since most communities do not have a place where grieving children can go for support. I hope everyone will participate in Ele’s Race--step by step we can help grieving children to heal.”
Proceeds from this event benefit Ele’s Place, a healing center for grieving children, which provides peer support groups to help children cope with the death or life-threatening illness of a parent, sibling or other loved one. Each week, Ele’s Place serves more than 200 children and their family members at no cost.
If you are unable to participate but would like to help, you can register to volunteer or make a donation online at www.elesplace.org.
