Michigan State will open the 2012-2013 basketball season on November 9th overseas.

The MSU men’s squad will take on Connecticut at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, the home of the U.S. Air Forces in Europe.

This is still pending approval by the U.S. Department of Defense.  The game is likely to be televised on ESPN.

Last year, the Spartans and North Carolina played on the deck of the U.S.S. Carl Vinson in front of a crowd of just over 8,000 people.  A crowd that included President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The game is being planned to take place around 10 p.m. local Germany time which would mean a 4 p.m. eastern time start here.
