Three Lansing men have been formally charged, after Lansing Police conducted a Commercialized Sex Prostitution Sting.

The sting began during the day and continued throughout the evening of Thursday, July 31. Two teams of LPD officers participated in the operation, which took place near the Kalamazoo Street Corridor.

The operation focused on "Johns" and deployed armed police officers posing as prostitutes. A total of 12 men were arrested. Nine posted bond soon after their arrest.

Three Lansing men did not post bond and have been arraigned on misdemeanor charges: 63 year-old Willie James, Jr, 46 year-old Harold Cole, and 17 year-old Cass Hawking.

The men are due back in court beginning next week.

Twelve arrests were made Thursday in a Lansing police prostitution sting operation.

The targets of the sting were "Johns", men who solicit sex.

Police officers posing as prostitutes walked along Kalamazoo St between Larch Street and Mifflin throughout the day and evening hours.

"The successful results of the sting send a loud an clear message that prostitution will not be tolerated in the city of Lansing" said Police Chief Mike Yankowski.

The suspects were arrested on charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies, but all are facing solicitation charges.

Nine vehicles were also seized.
